How to Prepare for DACA renewal

DACA RENEWAL

How It Started

On June 18, 2020, the United States Supreme Court sided with DACA recipients who ruled that the way the Trump administration terminated the DACA program in 2017 was illegal. The decision (Wolf v. Batalla Vidal) is a great victory for immigrant communities and their allies who mobilized to protect the DACA program.

Although the Court sided with DACA beneficiaries, it is important to remember that the Trump administration may again attempt to end the program through executive action. While only Congress can take steps to create a permanent solution for DACA beneficiaries through federal legislation, we must also continue to demand that state and local officials protect our communities from immigration law enforcement. It’s time for a permanent legislative solution for DACA recipients, TPS holders, and all other immigrants at risk of deportation.

Feel free to contact our office for an initial consultation if appropriate, or for a renewal of your DACA at 818-541-9999.
